Many parents struggle to talk with their children about appropriate and inappropriate touches, healthy boundaries, and the importance of teaching children the anatomical term for their private parts. This book brings awareness, teaches prevention, and emphasizes the importance of healthy communication.
This is a very important and timely book. It is written in such a way that children can easily comprehend the concepts presented and it emphasizes the fact that their bodies are their own, which empowers them. I especially liked that it addressed the fact that danger may come from both people they know and trust, as well as strangers, and prepared them to deal with those dangers. I believe this is a great book to read with your child or children when teaching them about private parts and inappropriate touching.
This book is an excellent resource for parents and others who are responsible for teaching safe boundaries to children while preventing sexual abuse. The book features rhyming text and welcoming illustrations that will keep young audiences engaged. It is wonderful that you can also choose which gender is needed for your child, as versions featuring a male or female character are available. A glossary, diagram with correct anatomical terms, and reflective questions are also included. Adults will also find facts regarding child sexual abuse, helpful steps to using the book as a teaching tool, and additional resources.
